Plant Notes:Common Peruvian Daisy is an introduced annual in the Sunflower family (Asteraceae). It is native from Mexico south through South America. It Alabama it can be found in scattered locations statewide. Common Peruvian Daisy is often a greenhouse weed, and is spread through the nursery trade. It often occurs as a contaminant in plants purchased from garden centers. It is a small plant with a tap root growing between 3-8 inches in height. The stems are green branched, and pubescent. Leaves are opposite, petiolate, lanceolate to ovate in outline, with toothed margins. The leaves are pubescent with long hairs on both surfaces. Flowers are produced in heads. The heads are arranged in cymes. Heads have 4-8 white ray flowers and 15-35 yellow disc flowers. The fruit is an achene.--A. Diamond
