Plant Notes:Eastern Daisy Fleabane is a native herbaceous annual in the Sunflower family (Asteraceae). It can be found throughout Alabama. Eastern Daisy Fleabane occurs on roadsides, in pastures, along streams and rivers, in fallow fields, and in prairies. It is an annual with a taproot. Stems are solitary or several from a root crown, green in color, pubescent, and branched above the middle. Leaves are basal and cauline. The basal leaves may be withered by flowering. Basal leaves are petiolate, lanceolate to oblanceolate in outline, pubescent, with toothed margins. Cauline leaves are alternate, lanceolate in outline, pubescent, with short petioles or sessile. Flowers are produced in heads. The heads are arranged in terminal panicles. Each head has 80-125 white ray flowers and 80-200 yellow disc flowers. The fruit is an achene with tuff of bristles at its apex.--A. Diamond
