Taxonomic Notes:Perhaps this taxon is extirpated from Alabama.  The single known occurence is from a collection made by Earle and Baker in 1897 from Lee County. Subsequently, this specimen was cited by Mohr (1901) [as Leptorchis loeselii (L.) Macmillan] and is curated at the New York Botanical Garden Herbarium  --see image below. To date, the nearest known location for this species is in TN, hundreds of miles to the north of Lee County, AL--B.R. Keener
