Plant Notes:Dahlberg Daisy is an introduced annual in the Sunflower family (Asteraceae). It is native to Texas and northern Mexico, but has been introduced in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, the Bahamas, Cuba, Asia, and Africa. In Alabama it has been found in Mobile County. Dahlberg Daisy occurs in open, disturbed sites such as on roadsides, in lawns, and in vacant lots. It is an annual with a tap root. The stems are decumbent to erect, 6-10 inches in height, branched from near the base, green in color, and glabrous or slightly pubescent. Leaves are alternate, petiolate or sessile, pinnately lobed, the lobes linear or filiform with entire margins, and glabrous. The foliage is aromatic when crushed. Flowers are produced in heads. The heads have 10-20 yellow ray flowers and 50-100 yellow disc flowers. The fruit is an achene. Dahlberg Daisy is available as seed. It prefers a well-draining soil in full sun. Plants are drought tolerant once established. It can be used as a low groundcover at the front of beds or in planters or hanging baskets.—A. Diamond
