Plant Notes:Entire Leaf Rosinweed is a native herbaceous perennial in the Aster family (Asteraceae). It can be found in west and central Alabama. It occurs in prairies, on calcareous outcrops, in open woodlands, along roadsides, and in powerline right-of-ways. Entire Leaf Rosinweed is a perennial from a hardened base or short rhizome. Basal leaves are usually absent at flowering. The stems are from one to six feet in height, and are unbranched below the inflorescence. The stems are round, scabrous or hispid pubescent, and green or reddish-brown in color. Stem leaves are opposite, sessile, ovate to elliptic in outline, pubescent on both surfaces, with entire or rarely toothed margins. The leaves are often clasping. Flowers are produced in heads. The heads are arranged in open panicles. Each plant may have from one to thirty-four heads. The involucral bracts and peduncles are pubescent. Ray flowers number 16-35. Both ray and disc flowers are bright yellow. The fruit is an achene.—A. Diamond
